Tim Cimmer Takes Third After Wild Finish at Saskatoon Ice Cross Event

The first-ever indoor Ice Cross event at Merlis Belsher Place in Saskatoon was packed with jaw-dropping action and unforgettable moments. From seasoned pros to young racers, the excitement of the night proved that Ice Cross is a sport for all ages. But one of the standout stories of the night was the audacious cowboy himself, Tim Cimmer.

From First to Third: The Tale of Tim’s Tumble

Tim Cimmer, the visionary behind Ice Cross, stormed into the final race with his trademark energy, initially taking the lead. However, the thrilling track’s sharp turns and obstacles tested even the most seasoned competitors. In a dramatic moment, Cimmer took a tumble, landing hard on his tailbone.

Spectators collectively winced, but true to his tenacious spirit, Cimmer got back up, determined to finish strong. Despite blowing a tire late in the race, he powered through to claim third place, earning the admiration of the crowd.

“Winning is great, but it’s about finishing the race no matter what,” Cimmer said with a grin after the event. “Ice Cross is all about resilience and having a good time, and that’s exactly what I did.”

A Saskatoon Star and an Alberta Contender

Taking first place, who won $1000, was local talent from Saskatoon, igniting cheers from the home crowd. The runner-up, a skilled racer from Edmonton, received $800 and proved that Ice Cross is bringing together athletes from across the country. The runner-up was impressive as he was a 17-year-old who raced in the world with the Red Bull affiliate ATSX and also raced in France. Both racers and Cimmer, who got second runner-up, walked away with thousands of dollars in prize money, adding an extra layer of excitement to the night.

Fun for All Ages

While the pros delivered high-octane thrills, the event wasn’t just about the competition. Young attendees also had their turn on the ice, racing through smaller tracks designed for kids. Laughter and cheers filled the arena as children experienced the sport’s excitement firsthand, many dreaming of becoming future Ice Cross stars.

Parents, too, were thrilled with the family-friendly atmosphere. “It’s so great to see something like this where the kids can get involved and have just as much fun as the adults,” one parent shared.
